Excellence from Southern will be recognised at the 2022 NSW Health Awards this Thursday, with two finalists from our LHD. The NSW Health Awards acknowledge innovative and sustainable health programs that deliver outcomes that matter to patients and invests in the wellness of the NSW community.
Brad Rossiter has been nominated for the Volunteer of the Year Award, recognising his significant contribution to volunteering within NSW Health, while Southern's Oral Health team are a finalist for the Secretary's Award – Integrated Value Based Care Award for their work expanding their virtual care offering to increase access to specialist paediatric dental care by expanding the use of virtual consultations and the development of outreach paediatric dental clinics and general anaesthetic facilities.
Brad has been the chair of the Eurobodalla Community Representative Committee (CRC) since 2013. He is an enthusiastic volunteer who spends significant time supporting services to provide excellent care and to promote health in the community. Brad has always advocated for the CRC to engage with the community. He is the driving force behind the Eurobodalla Health Expo, which has been an annual event in the Eurobodalla since 2016. It was Brad’s vision that saw a place for community and local health providers to come together and he has continued to work closely with local businesses to ensure that the event is free for exhibitors and the community.
Southern's Oral Health team is a finalist in a category that recognises initiatives that support NSW Health’s vision for a sustainable health system to deliver outcomes that matter to patients, is personalised, invests in wellness and is digitally enabled. The team are a finalist for their 'Oral Health Goes Virtual' project, which which pivoted the existing model of care to a Virtual Care specialist and consultative service. The implementation of local chairside support, using intraoral cameras drastically improved access to the much-needed service. Alongside this development, SNSW oral health staff were also trained in an evidence-based Chronic Disease Management (CDM) protocol. Patients can now present face–to–face in their local dental clinic where an Oral Health Professional can conduct a live consultation via MyVC with specialists joining remotely.
The Awards ceremony is returning to an in-person evening event with all finalists after two years of a smaller hybrid event.
The 2022 NSW Health Awards will be held on 1 December 2022 and available to be streamed online from 6pm. Watch the live stream here.
