The registrations are in for the upcoming Council election.
There are seven who wish to be Mayor and thirty four vying to be councillors.
As can be seen above we have The Greens and Labor represented in the Mayoral contest with the others either identifying themselves as Independent or No Affiliation.
It has been long rumoured that the local Liberal Party would put forward a ticket. Of interest is that two well known, Liberally inclined, current councillors are not to be seen in the candidates.
Of interest is the host of emails crossing The Beagle's desk calling my attention to the fact that Rob Pollock has declared himself Independent by Affiliation and that the Australian Electoral Commission identifies those on his ticket as all Independent
On investigation however it is revealed that Jennifer Munro is a member of the Liberal Party as declared on her registration form (extract below) .
Fellow councillor and Ticket candidate, Jack Tait, said in August 2019 "I'm not aligned with any political party. When I first received the email from Pat McGinlay ... I was for it (Pat McGinlay's bid for the council to declare a climate emergency). Then I start receiving form emails. He is the Greens representative ... he's put up a Greens policy. If Pat had put it up as his words, his writing ... maybe a lot of people would have looked at it differently."
The political inclinations of Diskon and Motbey are unknown however it is widely known that Rob Pollock has been Liberally inclined for decades.
Source So is the Pollock Party Independent or Liberal? It does matter. Especially to all those now pouring over the registration details on the NSW Electoral Commission website More to come.
